UTPA BroncBusters - Matt Eichel

March 2, 2005

1. The team recently handed 10th-ranked Arizona its first loss of the season and snapped an eight-game losing streak in the process. How big of a win was that for the squad?
ME - "It was pretty huge. Any time that you can beat a team that is nationally-ranked, you are moving in the right direction."

2. In that game, you were responsible for four of the team's seven runs as well as behind the plate for Dane Mason's pitching performance. How would you describe the game for yourself?
ME - "It was definitely fun. It felt great to finally perform to the level that not only the team, but myself had expected throughout the year."

3. What's the hardest part of catching that the everyday person wouldn't understand?
ME - "It's knowing that every game you are behind the plate, you will get repeatedly hit by the ball. You are a human target."

4. With this being your final season with the team, what would your top three moments as a Bronc student-athlete?
ME - "In my first at-bat as a Bronc against Illinois I hit a home run would be first then when we beat Notre Dame (11th) and beating Arizona (10th)."

5. Even though the season is relatively young, if you were asked to grade your performance thus far - how would you do it and why?
ME - "Definitely... below average. I haven't had the consistency that I want at the plate."

6. The Broncs are only 12 games into the 2005 season, what has been your assessment of the team thus far?
ME - "I think that we have a lot more talent than we have shown."

7. What do you think has been the team's biggest improvements since last season?
ME - "I would say depth on the pitching roster, especially out of the bullpen."

8. In your eyes, what do you believe is your role on this year's team?
