UTPA BroncBusters - Sergio Sanchez

Feb. 14, 2005

1. Right now, the team is 11-12 on the season. What does the team need to do in order to finish strong in its last five games of the season?
SS - "We just need to have confidence in whatever we do out on the court. For the seniors, this is our last few games of our college careers, and we need to make the most of it."

2. You missed 10 games during the season due to a broken hand - what was the hardest part for you during that stretch?
SS - "It was knowing that there was no next year to come back and play college ball again."

3. With only two games remaining at the UTPA Fieldhouse, what three things would you like to see in your last contests in the Valley?
SS - "I would say, (1) we win both games, (2) we have a big crowd and (3) we have fun out on the court."

4. In your own opinion, what do you think about this season's results so far?
SS - "It's kind of disappointing that we are below .500 right now, especially knowing the kind of expectations that were placed upon us at the beginning of the season."

5. There are not many point guards that can score 20 or more points on any given evening, and at one point - you were averaging over 20 points per game. What is your secret to scoring at the point?
SS - "It's a combination of instincts, dedication and confidence."

6. The team is 10-2 at home and 1-10 on the road - what's the biggest difference you've seen from playing at home compared to playing on the road?
SS - "It's just a certain sense of comfort that we have at home. We are a totally different team at home."

7. In your eyes, what do you believe is your role on this year's team?
SS - "I would say it's to be a leader."

8. How have you seen the team grow from the beginning of pre-season up to this point?
SS - "We've gotten closer as a team."

9. If you have to grade yourself on your performance during the season - how would you do it and why?
